Anthony Joshua, Dabiri-Erewa celebrate Okolie’s WBO cruiserweight victory

Unified world heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, has hailed Lawrence Okolie who defeated Krzysztof Glowacki to claim the World Boxing Organisation cruiserweight title on Saturday.

Okolie, a British pugilist of Nigerian descent, handed Glowacki his third career defeat with a massive knock-out punch in the sixth round at Wembley Arena on Saturday.

Joshua who recently signed a two-fight deal to face Tyson Fury in the much-anticipated undisputed world heavyweight title fight, took to Twitter to celebrate his Nigerian brother, Okolie.

“Congrats family’, Anthony Joshua tweeted with a fisted hand.

In the same vein, the Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, took to her verified Twitter handle to celebrate Okolie.

“Congrats to Lawrence Okolie @Lawrence_tko who perfectly knocked out Krzysztof Glowacki to become WBO world cruiserweight champion,” Dabiri-Erewa tweeted.

The 28-year-old Londoner became the first male member of Britain’s 2016 Olympic squad to claim a professional world title, with Okolie unbeaten since joining the paid ranks.

The Polish fighter’s knock-out is Okolie’s 13th career knockout in 16 professional fights.
