Actress and model, Annie Macaulay, has confirmed her divorce from music star Innocent “2Baba” Idibia during the 2025 Headies Awards.
While on stage to announce the winner of the Best Afrobeats Single, Annie introduced herself as “Annie Idibia” but quickly corrected herself to “Annie Macaulay,” using her maiden name. The brief moment caught the attention of the audience and viewers, who took it as a strong sign that her marriage to 2Baba had officially ended.
After the slip, Annie smiled and said cheerfully, “Shoutout to all the singles in the audience,” causing many to believe she was boldly embracing her new single status.
Many fans described the moment as emotional and praised Annie for confidently starting a new chapter in her life.
Before this public moment, 2Baba had already announced their separation on his Instagram page in January 2025. In his post, he said, “I and Annie Macaulay have been separated for a while now, and currently filed for divorce.”
Later, 2Baba appeared in a video to confirm that his Instagram account was not hacked and that the announcement was true.
Annie and 2Baba were married for nearly 12 years and have two children together. Over the years, their relationship was often discussed in the media, with several public fights, reconciliations, and accusations of infidelity. Annie had at different times accused 2Baba of cheating, while the couple made efforts to stay together.
After the divorce, 2Baba started a public relationship with Natasha Osawaru, a lawmaker in Edo State. He proposed to Natasha and introduced her to his family and kinsmen in Benue State, leading to talks about a possible traditional wedding soon.
Natasha has been seen spending time with 2Baba’s mother, Rose Idibia, even though there was some initial resistance from the family.
