Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have officially finalized their divorce, marking the end of an eight-year legal struggle.

Jolie’s lawyer, James Simon, confirmed the settlement on Monday, stating that the actress is relieved to have reached this resolution.

“Angelina is focused on finding peace and healing for her family,” Simon told People Magazine. “This is just one part of a long, ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”

The couple, once dubbed “Brangelina” by fans, tied the knot in 2014 after meeting on the set of the 2005 film Mr. and Mrs. Smith, where they played a married couple. At the time, Pitt was married to actress Jennifer Aniston.

Jolie filed for divorce in September 2016, citing “irreconcilable differences.” Since then, the pair have been involved in a series of legal battles, including a contentious custody dispute over their six children, three of whom are adopted.

In 2018, a custody arrangement was reached, but complications in their legal battles continued. In 2021, a judge awarded joint custody of the children, although it is unclear if the arrangement has since changed.

The divorce proceedings also included disputes over property, particularly the French vineyard Chateau Miraval, where they married. Jolie sold her share of the estate, sparking a separate legal confrontation.

The settlement brings an end to one of Hollywood’s most high-profile separations. Both Jolie, 49, and Pitt, 61, remain iconic figures in the film industry, with Jolie known for her roles in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Girl, Interrupted, and Pitt celebrated for performances in Fight Club* and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
