Anambra student tops 2025 UTME with 375 score

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has named Okeke Chinedu Christian from Anambra as the top scorer in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination with 375 out of 400.

JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, announced this at the 2025 Policy Meeting in Abuja on Tuesday. He said Okeke picked the University of Lagos as his first choice and plans to study Mechanical Engineering.

Right behind him is Ayuba Simon-Peter John from Gombe State, who scored 374. He chose Afe Babalola University in Ado-Ekiti, also for Mechanical Engineering.

The third-highest score, 373, was recorded by Jimoh Abdulmalik Olayinka from Kwara State. He also chose the University of Lagos to study the same course.

Others who scored 373 include Roberts Ayibo Damiete from Rivers State, who applied for Electrical and Electronic Engineering at UNILAG, and Ononugbo Chibueze Chigozirim from Enugu, who picked the University of Ibadan.

Gertrude Olawepo Tunmise from Kwara was the only female among the top scorers. She also got 373 and selected Computer Science at the University of Lagos.

The full list shows that most top scorers chose engineering-related courses, especially Mechanical Engineering, with UNILAG appearing as the top choice of university.

Professor Oloyede noted that all top scorers were discovered through a transparent process based on scores recorded during the 2025 UTME.

He also reminded the gathering that the minimum admission score set for universities this year is 150, and the age requirement for university admission is now officially 16.
