On Tuesday, suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra engaged men of the Nigeria Police Force in gun battle for over three hours at Osumoghu junction, during the supplementary governorship elections in Anambra State.
The development forced joint security operatives to block the Osumoghu junction bordering Imo State.
The PUNCH reports that the alleged Biafra agitators mobilised from Imo State to apparently disrupt the poll in state.
When a journalist, monitoring the poll in Ihiala ran into the avalanche of security operatives he was ordered back.
"Find your way out of this place. Your brothers ( IPOB members) have engaged here for over three hour.
"Some of them are still inside the forest. Just find your way out of this place for your safety," a police man stated.
The development caused residents to desert the area.
The police are yet to confirm the incident as of the time of filing this report.
