The Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun Corps, has suspended three of its officers for breaching their oath of allegiance and secrecy.

The affected officers are Abu Taiwo, Akinsipe Victor, and Ekujumi Julius. The state commander of the corps, Adetunji Adeleye, announced their suspension on Monday while parading four suspected criminals at the Amotekun headquarters in Akure.

Adeleye said the suspended officers were declared wanted for investigation, explaining that they acted to undermine and distract the corps from its core duty of protecting lives and property.

He said, “The three of them had been reprimanded and are now declared wanted. In a security setting where oaths of allegiance and secrecy are taken seriously, such breaches cannot be ignored. We will not be dragged into controversies involving those who have acted in isolation.”

Adeleye added that the law establishing the corps clearly outlines the identification process for its operatives, stressing that those acting outside the law do so on their own.

He said the corps remains focused and united, adding that there is evidence suggesting that the suspended officers were sponsored to cause distractions.

Speaking on the four suspects paraded, Adeleye said they were arrested for crimes ranging from kidnapping to theft and robbery.

He identified one of the suspects, 29-year-old Ogungbemi Adebayo, as an informant for kidnappers operating around the Ademekun power line in Ago-Dada camp.

Adeleye said, “Adebayo confessed that he was trained by Fulani kidnappers on how to use AK-47 rifles. He was arrested through a joint effort of the civil defense, Amotekun operatives, and residents of Ademekun village.”

Other suspects include Nasiru Suleiman, who was arrested for dismantling government caterpillars parked along the Akure-Ondo road; Saliu Nureni, 57, who was caught for robbery and arson near NEPA Market; and Ahmed Oladimeji, who was arrested for stealing a generator and alternator in Igoba, Akure.

Adeleye noted that there has been a decline in criminal activity across the state in recent weeks. He assured residents that Ondo remains safe for business and development.
