America’s Michaela Jaé Rodriguez becomes first transgender actress to win Golden Globe

31-year-old American Pose star, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez has become the first transgender actress to win a Golden Globe in history.

Recall that the Golden Globes Award which took place on Sunday, January 9th, at a private ceremony in Beverly Hills saw her being nominated in the category alongside Uzo Aduba (In Treatment), Jennifer Aniston (The Morning Show), Christine Baranski (The Good Fight) and Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale).

Rodriguez was awarded Best Actress in a TV Drama for her portrayal of Blanca Rodriguez-Evangelista in the FX series Pose, which concluded with its third season last year.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, responsible for the awards, later announced that it made her the first transgender actress to win a Golden Globe in its history.
