During his African tour, U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken visited Abuja and met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.

Blinken assured of American companies’ willingness to partner with and invest in the Nigerian economy.

Tinubu held a bilateral meeting with Blinken, who arrived in Nigeria on Tuesday as part of his four-nation African tour.

The visit is aimed at reinforcing the United States’ commitment to stronger relations with democracies in the subregion amidst ongoing global crises.*

Blinken, received at the forecourt of President Tinubu’s office at 6.55 pm, is also scheduled to visit Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, and Angola during his tour.

Top government officials, including Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris, and Minister of Solid Minerals Development Dele Alake, welcomed the U.S. Secretary of State.

Following the meeting, Blinken is set to hold a joint press conference with the Minister of Foreign Affairs before departing for Lagos later in the evening.

In Lagos, he is scheduled to engage with the business community, continuing discussions on potential partnerships and investments.
