Nollywood actress, Annie Macaulay, has shared a heartfelt message to her daughter, emphasizing the importance of self-worth and making better choices in life — a sentiment many believe stems from her own personal journey.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, the actress wrote candidly about her hopes for her daughter’s future, subtly hinting at lessons drawn from her past.
“I hope my daughter doesn’t accept things I’ve accepted, that she knows her worth from the start and that no matter what, she always has me in her corner,” she shared.
The post resonated widely, sparking conversations online as many linked the statement to her former marriage to music legend Innocent “2Baba” Idibia, and the challenges she publicly endured over the years.
Annie’s message comes months after she confirmed the end of her marriage to 2Baba during the 17th Headies Awards in Atlanta in May 2025. While presenting an award, she momentarily stumbled on her surname, nearly using “Idibia” before correcting herself to “Macaulay.” She then addressed single women in the crowd with a playful nod, marking her first public recognition of the separation.
2Baba had earlier announced the split in January 2025, ending their more than decade-long union. The couple, who tied the knot in 2013, have two daughters together.
Throughout their relationship, Annie was frequently in the public eye, especially due to long-standing controversies surrounding 2Baba’s relationships with Pero Adeniyi and Sunmbo Adeoye, both of whom have children with him. With six children from three women, the musician’s personal life was often under media scrutiny — a reality Annie had to navigate for years.
Her recent post appears to reflect a desire to shield her daughter from similar experiences and to empower her to recognize her value from the outset.
