The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has invited the former Osun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr. Adebayo Adeleke, for questioning.

Confirming the development, Adeleke’s media aide, Kazeem Mohammed, stated that his principal had received the invitation and would honour it soon.

Mohammed clarified that Adeleke was not arrested, contrary to speculation on social media.

He explained that ICPC officials delivered the letter on Monday evening as Adeleke was leaving the premises of a radio station in Osogbo, the state capital.

The invitation follows a petition by the Osun State Government to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, calling for an investigation into the renovation of Primary Healthcare Centres under former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola’s administration.

The petition alleged that contracts were awarded to companies linked to some All Progressives Congress chieftains in the state, including Adeleke.

In response, Adeleke denied any wrongdoing, stating that he had resigned from the company mentioned in the petition.

He alleged that the current administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke was targeting him for exposing certain infractions.

Commenting on the invitation, Mohammed said, “He has been invited. Some ICPC officials brought the letter to him when he was about to leave the premises of a radio station in Osogbo this evening. He received the letter and promised to honour it at a later date.

“Those that brought the letter were very civil. He was not arrested. Prince Adeleke even spoke about the invite by the ICPC during a radio programme today (Monday). So, no cause for alarm.”
