The Akwa Ibom Police Command has successfully neutralized a suspected kidnap kingpin and sea pirate.
This was announced by the State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John, in Uyo on Thursday.
She explained that the suspect was killed on Wednesday during a gun battle with police operatives at his hideout in Uyanga Community, Cross River State. “The suspect, a gang leader of the Bling Bling Marine Strike Force terrorizing Uruan/Oron waterways, was responsible for the kidnapping of a High Court Judge and the killing of her Police Orderly,” ASP John said.
She added that the suspect was also involved in the murder of another prominent person in the state and the kidnapping of his sales representative, among other crimes.
One G3 rifle with four live rounds of ammunition was recovered from the suspect. “The suspect’s remains have been deposited at the morgue, and investigations are ongoing to arrest other members of the gang,” she stated.
The Police reassured the residents of Akwa Ibom of the command’s commitment to making the state safe and secure for businesses to thrive.
He urged people to report any suspicious movements to the police.
