The Akwa Ibom State Government says Governor Umo Eno has approved an extra one-month salary for civil servants to mark the Christmas season.

The announcement was made on the state’s official X account on Monday. The payment is expected to help workers enjoy the yuletide celebrations.

The governor wrote, “I have directed the Accountant General to pay the 13th-month Eno-mber salary before Christmas, so our workers can celebrate with ease. Happy New Month.”

The bonus, also called a 13th-month salary, is an additional payment usually equal to one month’s salary. It is given to employees at the end of the year to assist with festive expenses.

This year’s Eno-mber salary is the third consecutive year Governor Eno has approved the payment. Last year, he also announced the payment of the ₦80,000 minimum wage to all public servants.

The government said the early disbursement aims to ensure workers have enough funds to celebrate Christmas and New Year without stress.
