The Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has appealed to America to mentor Nigeria on its democratic journey.

He made this appeal when he received a team from the American embassy in Nigeria, led by the Acting Ambassador, David Greene.

He said the US should continue to support Nigeria and other countries in their quest for democracy.

He expressed his faith in the American democracy, hoping that the country would share its experience with other nations, according to Punch.

I have confidence in the American democracy and I request that you keep on providing assistance to Nigeria and other countries as we advance our democratic process,” Akpabio said.

In his response, Greene said his team was looking for ways to cooperate with the Nigerian Senate on various issues.

Greene said, “We are here today to congratulate the Senate President and also to explore how we can work together for the benefit of the Nigerian people.
