The funeral rites honoring the late former Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, culminated in a deeply poignant funeral service at the cathedral church of Saint Andrew in Owo, the headquarters of Owo Local Government, after a week-long series of ceremonies.

Dignitaries, including President Bola Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, along with governors and prominent figures, gathered at the church to bid farewell to Akeredolu.

The somber ceremony saw the remains of Akeredolu, who also served as the Chancellor of the Owo Anglican Diocese, ceremoniously brought into the church at 9:55, escorted by a guard of honor comprised of officers from the Amotekun Corps.

Tinubu, in his tribute, lauded Akeredolu as a fearless leader and advocate for the people, emphasizing the importance of preserving his memory and legacy as a source of comfort for those who cherished him dearly.

Reflecting on the transient nature of life, Tinubu poignantly remarked, “As we gather here today, we are confronted with one inexorable truth: season come season go, much like the ebb and flow of our lives and each of us shall go with the tides one after the other. We are also reminded that in this transient journey through life, we are both whispers in the wind. The parts of us that endure after we get to the end of our journey are the choices we make, and this moment is the ultimate confirmation of the noble paths trodden by our dear brother.”
