A Wuse Zone 2 Chief Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, on Wednesday remanded a 33-year-old woman, Hannatu Sadi, in prison custody for allegedly pouring hot pap on another woman.
Sadi, a pap vendor of behind Bassam Plaza, Abuja, was arraigned on a two-count charge of mischief and causing grievous hurt.
The Senior Magistrate, Teribo Jim, gave the order and adjourned hearing of the case till May 25.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Ibrahim Bibi, told the court that Rhoda John, of behind Bassam Plaza, Abuja, reported the matter at the Wuse Police Station on May 11.
Bibi said that the complainant and the defendant were both businesswomen selling pap behind Bassam Plaza, Abuja.
He said that on May 10, while the complainant and the defendant were at their business place, the defendant claimed that the complainant broke her rubber bowl valued N700.
“This led to a huge argument between the two women; the defendant fetched some hot pap from a pot on fire and poured on the complainant,” Bibi said.
He also said that the hot pap caused grievous hurt on the complainants shoulder and breast.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 327 and 247 of the Penal Code.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
