Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has said he will not remove the state Amotekun Corps Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, despite what he described as pressure from different quarters.

The governor stated this on Monday in Akure while commissioning the newly completed Command and Control Centre and Training Auditorium built for the Amotekun Corps. The event also included the first Annual General Meeting of the Amotekun Corps Cooperative Society.

Aiyedatiwa dismissed recent online claims that the state government was planning to sack the commander. He said such rumours were meant to create confusion and undermine the work of the security outfit.

He said, “I pass a vote of confidence on the Amotekun Commander. There are no social media narratives that can remove you. Your commitment to this work is clear.”

The governor added that some individuals had tried to turn him against Adeleye in order to force a removal. He said, “They reported you to me so that I could sack you. But I have told him, he is going nowhere.”

Aiyedatiwa stressed that security is a shared duty, noting that keeping communities safe requires public cooperation and consistent government backing. He said his administration remains committed to protecting lives and property under its policy focus known as OUR EASE.

He explained that the new Command and Control Centre would improve intelligence sharing, response time, and overall coordination. He also praised Adeleye and the Corps leadership for the dedication put into completing the facility.

The governor assured that the state would continue to support the Corps with logistics, training, welfare, and other needs. He also highlighted the strong partnership among security agencies, which he said has helped keep Ondo among the most peaceful states in the country.

He pointed out that the new training auditorium will help officers gain the discipline, skills, and knowledge required for modern security work. According to him, the quick release of funds for the project shows the government’s commitment to the welfare and professional development of Amotekun personnel.

Aiyedatiwa also honoured the late former governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, describing him as a visionary whose leadership led to the creation of the Amotekun Corps across the South West.

He announced the approval for the recruitment of 500 new Amotekun operatives to further strengthen security in the state.

In his remarks, Adeleye thanked the governor for his consistent backing. He said the Corps remains focused on improving safety through strong operations, fast response, and intelligence from communities. He also praised the late Akeredolu as the driving force behind the South West security reform.

The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, said the peace enjoyed in the state is tied to the administration’s steady support for security agencies. He promised that cooperation among agencies would continue.

The NSCDC State Commandant, Oluyemi Ibiloye, also commended the governor and welcomed the new Amotekun recruits. The State Director of the Department of State Services, Samaila Sagiru, praised the government’s support, describing it as encouraging for security work in the state.
