Activist Aisha Yesufu has vowed to accompany Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to the National Assembly today as the embattled lawmaker plans to resume her duties despite opposition from the Senate.

Senator Natasha was suspended in March 2025 for six months after accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual misconduct, a claim he denied. But in July, a Federal High Court in Abuja ruled her suspension unconstitutional.

The Senate President’s legal team has since appealed the ruling, saying the court has no power over Senate matters.

Speaking on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily on Monday, Yesufu said she would stand with Natasha.

“She is not going alone. We’ll be with her and stand with her. If the Senate decides they are going to kill us, let them kill us,” Yesufu said.

She added, “Out of 109 senators, only four are women. Yet you go after them. Enough of us being treated like second-class citizens.”

Yesufu accused the Senate of acting unlawfully. “The suspension by the Senate is unconstitutional. The court didn’t stop Natasha from going in, so she has a right to resume office.”

She also criticised the judiciary, saying, “The judiciary, which should be the last hope of the common man, is now a pawn in the hands of corrupt politicians.”

Senator Natasha also confirmed her intention to resume today despite the Senate’s position.

“I’ve written to the Senate again, telling them that I’m resuming on the 22nd, which is Tuesday, by the special grace of God,” she said in Kogi State.

On Sunday, the Senate insisted Natasha must stay away until the suspension ends, claiming there is no binding court order for her reinstatement.
