Air Peace has promised to help bring home young Nigerian girls trafficked to Ivory Coast.
The airline’s chairman, Allen Onyema, said the girls would be flown back to Nigeria for free and also receive medical treatment and other support.
Onyema made this promise in a press statement after a social media activist, VeryDarkMan, raised alarm about the girls’ situation.
“We should discourage trafficking of any kind. It is inhumane and callous. It is absolutely ungodly and a good example of man’s inhumanity to man,” Onyema said.
He announced that Air Peace would handle their full evacuation and send them to Duchess International Hospital in Ikeja, Lagos, for free medical checks and treatment.
Onyema also urged the Nigerian Embassy in Ivory Coast to help locate and gather the victims so they can be flown home as soon as possible.
“While we implore the Nigerian Embassy in Cote D’Ivoire to assemble them and reach out to us, we equally call on the Federal Government to take charge of their education while reuniting them with their families,” he said.
He called on the Federal Government to take full responsibility for the girls’ education and help them settle back into their communities.
