The Kaduna State Command of the Nigerian Police Force has confirmed the arrest of two Nigerian Air Force personnel and two civilians over the alleged torture and death of Joseph Isaac Fada, a 28-year-old fuel station staff.

According to security analyst, Zagazola Makama, the incident, which occurred on April 30, 2025, has triggered public outrage over what many view as a case of extrajudicial treatment and abuse of authority by military personnel.

Police sources disclosed that the case was initiated when Amina Abdurrazaq, 40, manager of Albash Filling Station located along Airport Road in Kaduna, accused Fada of criminally misappropriating ₦335,522 from fuel sales.

Instead of reporting the matter to law enforcement, Abdurrazaq allegedly handed Fada over to a military checkpoint operated by the 413 Force Protection Group of the Nigerian Air Force for questioning.

It was revealed that Fada was detained overnight at the checkpoint, where he was allegedly subjected to torture by the military personnel until he became unconscious.

He was subsequently taken to a patent medicine store for treatment but reportedly died at the facility.

The owner of the medicine store, a 51-year-old woman identified as Maryam, was also taken into custody.

Following the escalation of the case, it was transferred from the Airport Police Division to the state police headquarters, prompting the arrest of the implicated Air Force officers, Sgt. Achibong Friday Udoh and LCPL Ayodele Glory Blessing, along with Abdurrazaq and Maryam.

Police authorities confirmed that the remains of the deceased have been deposited for autopsy, and investigations are underway to ascertain the roles and culpability of each suspect in the incident.
