A trailer on Friday morning crushed a woman to death under the Molete flyover in Ibadan, Oyo State.
According to reports, the incident occurred at 8:02am after the container-carrying trailer experienced brake failure.
The corpse of the accident victim, whose identity was still unknown, has been evacuated by the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Agency (OYTMA) and the Nigerian Police Force and deposited at a morgue.
WuzupNaija gathered that no fewer than three buses and four tricycles – popularly called Keke – were damaged in the incident.
WuzupNaija further reports that the toll of fatalities in trailer and truck accidents less than three weeks into 2019 is staggering.
About two weeks ago, a trailer crushed a pregnant woman to death in Challenge, an area in Ibadan. The incident happened a few meters from Friday’s accident.
In Lagos state, a truck crushed a woman and her child to death in Oshodi. The deceased was said to be hawking sachet water, also known as pure water.
Last week, a truck laden with ‘campaign rice’ crashed into a market in Iworoko Ekiti in Ekiti State, killing no fewer than 15 persons.
Fatal accidents involving trucks have also been reported across different states in the nation this year alone.
