Barely weeks after bandits invaded Gidan-Bijimi community in Kawu Ward, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, and abducted six women and a teenage boy, gunmen have again struck the area, kidnapping three farmers.
A resident of the community, Moses Yakubu, said the attackers stormed Gidan-Bijimi on Sunday at about 10 p.m., firing shots into the air before abducting three farmers identified as Yarima Williams, Mami Nuhu and Ebama Joshua.
Yakubu disclosed that local vigilantes attempted to confront the assailants but were overwhelmed by the attackers’ superior firepower.
He further said, “In fact, the vigilantes wanted to confront the bandits, but they were unable to do so because they lacked sophisticated weapons.”
According to Yakubu, contact had not yet been established with the abductors as of the time of the report.
It was also gathered that the abducted farmers are prominent ginger producers in the community, known to earn substantial income from their harvests.
Confirming the incident, the Village Head of Gidan-Bijimi, Paul Adamu, said the community was again thrown into fear by the attack.
When contacted, the spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, said she would look into the incident and provide further details.
