AFTER A FREE RIDE, HE REQUESTED FOR A DRINK! Thug stabs 24-year-old tricycle rider to death over N200
A thug identified as Ifeanyi Ali, on May 13, 2018, stabbed a 24-year-old tricycle rider to death for refusing to give him N200 in Awada, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Saturday PUNCH reports that the deceased, Chigozie Alo, gave the suspect a ride and on getting to his destination, Ali demanded the sum from the rider to buy a local gin at a drinking joint in the area.
The Izza, Ebonyi State, indigene was said to have explained to Ali that he did not have money on him as he had just started work for the day.
The victim, however, reportedly asked the suspect to buy the drink on credit, promising to pay the seller later in the day.
The 24-year-old wanted to zoom off when Ali reportedly stabbed him with a broken bottle from behind and fled the scene. The young man, it was gathered, bled to death.
The case was reported at the Okpoko Police Division after which the suspect was arrested.
When the state Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Muhammed, was contacted on the telephone for comment, he said he would not comment on the incident on the telephone even when after the reporter had explained he is based in Lagos.
Muhammed said,
“If you want to know anything about the case, come down to the command. It is not a telephone issue. If you come, we will explain everything to you. I can’t give you any information because I have not seen you first-to-face. It is illegal to give you information now.”
