Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has stirred a wave of reactions online following a cryptic and emotional message he shared on social media.

In a post shared via his Instagram story, the Grammy-winning artist announced what he described as the “death” of his iconic persona, African Giant.

The statement has since sparked widespread discussion among fans and critics alike.

According to the singer, the demise of that version of himself was caused by betrayal from his own people.

He went further to introduce a new alter ego, Big 7, which he said emerged to guard the remnants of the fallen African Giant.

He wrote: “The ‘African Giant’ BURNA BOY died. His own people killed him. Then ‘BIG 7’ was born to protect what was left of ‘BURNA BOY’. BURNA BOY and BIG 7 fight each other a lot because while BIG 7 is only protecting the final and only existing piece of BURNA BOY’s BROKEN HEART. The ‘African Giant’ still haunts BURNA BOY.”

This deeply introspective and metaphorical message suggests an inner conflict between his past and current self, highlighting a personal transformation fueled by pain and emotional struggle.

While many fans sympathized with the vulnerability Burna Boy expressed, others speculated about the real-life events behind the post.

The phrase “his own people killed him” raised questions about trust and betrayal within his personal or professional circles.

Despite Big 7 being described as a guardian figure, Burna Boy acknowledged that the African Giant still lingers in his psyche, hinting at unresolved emotions tied to his earlier identity.

The post has fueled conversations about the pressures of fame, the challenges of maintaining authenticity in the public eye, and the emotional toll of betrayal from within.
