Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has unveiled the starting XI for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations second-round showdown against Cameroon.

The announcement comes ahead of the anticipated 9 pm kick-off on Saturday.

Leading the team will be William Troost-Ekong, who returns to action and will assume the captaincy against the Rigobert Song-led Indomitable Lions at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan.

Peseiro maintains confidence in the 3-4-3 formation, positioning Stanley Nwabali in goal behind the defensive trio of Troost-Ekong, Semi Ajayi, and Calvin Bassey. Ola Aina and Zaidu Sanusi are set to flank as wingbacks.

In the midfield, Alex Iwobi partners with Frank Onyeka, while Moses Simon, Ademola Lookman, and Victor Osimhen spearhead the attacking front.

Notably absent from the line-up are Kenneth Omeruo, Samuel Chukwueze, Bright Osayi-Samuel, and Joe Aribo, who all saw action against Guinea-Bissau.

Yusuf Alhassan, despite recovering from injury sustained against Equatorial Guinea, is also omitted.

The Super Eagles advanced to the AFCON second round after securing seven points from three Group A matches, while Cameroon secured progression with a stoppage-time victory in their final group encounter.
