AFCON: Shettima’s presence inspires Super Eagles to final, says presidency

Vice President Kashim Shettima’s presence at Stade de la Paix in Bouaké, Côte d’Ivoire, inspired Nigeria’s Super Eagles to secure their spot in the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations final.

A statement released by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President Stanley Nkwocha noted this after the Super Eagles match against South Africa in the ongoing African Cup of nations in Ivory Coast.

“The presence of His Excellency, Vice President Kashim Shettima, undoubtedly served as a significant source of inspiration,” the statement read.

In the thrilling semi-final clash against South Africa, held at the same stadium, Nigeria emerged victorious on penalties after extra time.

Throughout the tournament, the Super Eagles displayed exceptional talent, determination, and resilience, capturing the hearts of fans nationwide.

“His unwavering support and belief in the team’s capabilities resonated deeply with the players and fans alike,” added Nkwocha.

As Nigeria prepares for the final, the nation eagerly anticipates witnessing the team etch their names in footballing history.
