AFCON: CAF crowns Super Eagles’ Eguavoen as coach of group stage

Super Eagles interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen has been crowned the best coach of the group stage of the ongoing 2021 Africa Nations Cup in Cameroon.

Eguavoen led the Nigerian side into the Round of 16 with a perfect record after victories over Egypt, Sudan and Guinea Bissau, claiming maximum points for the first time since 2006.

Accoridng to the Confederation of African Football on its website after AFCON 2021 group stage, Eguavoen came tops in the shortliste made by the CAF’s Technical Study Group.

Reacting, Eguavoen tweeted, “Many thanks to the Confederation of African Football for this award. The Best coach of the Group stage. Wouldn’t have been possible without my fantastic group of players and colleagues. Thank you Nigerians, for your support. It’s needed now, more than ever.”
