The quarter-final matches for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco have been confirmed, with Nigeria set to face Algeria after the Desert Foxes edged DR Congo in the round of 16 on Tuesday.
Algeria booked their place in the last eight with a 1–0 extra-time victory over DR Congo in Rabat. Substitute Anis Boulbina scored the winning goal in the 119th minute to seal the tie and set up a quarter-final showdown with the Super Eagles.
Nigeria had earlier qualified for the quarter-finals on Monday night after a dominant 4–0 win over Mozambique. Victor Osimhen scored twice in the encounter to send the Super Eagles through.
Other countries already through to the quarter-finals include Senegal, Mali, hosts Morocco, Cameroon and Egypt. Only one round-of-16 fixture, between Côte d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso, remains to decide the final quarter-final pairing.
So far, the confirmed quarter-final fixtures are as follows. Mali will face Senegal on Friday, January 9, at the Grand Stade de Tanger in Tangier, with kick-off scheduled for 5pm WAT.
On the same day, Cameroon will take on hosts Morocco at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat by 9pm WAT.
On Saturday, January 10, Egypt will play the winner of the Côte d’Ivoire versus Burkina Faso tie at the Stade Adrar in Agadir, with kick-off set for 8pm WAT.
Also on Saturday, Nigeria will clash with Algeria at the Stade de Marrakech, Ouahat Sidi Brahim, by 5pm WAT.
The final quarter-final fixture will be confirmed after the conclusion of the Côte d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso round-of-16 match. As at Tuesday night, Côte d’Ivoire were leading 2–0, with goals from Amad Diallo in the 20th minute and Yan Diomande in the 32nd minute.
The AFCON 2025 quarter-final matches will be played on Friday, January 9, and Saturday, January 10, across four venues in Morocco.
