Nigeria finished the group stage of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a perfect record after defeating Uganda 3-1 on Tuesday.

The Super Eagles sealed the win in their final Group C match at the Fez Stadium in Morocco to end the round with nine points from three games.

Paul Onuachu opened the scoring in the 28th minute after finishing from close range. He met a low cross from Fisayo Dele-Bashiru to give Nigeria a deserved lead.

Nigeria controlled much of the first half, creating several chances as Uganda struggled to contain the Eagles’ pace and movement.

The Super Eagles increased the tempo after the break and doubled their advantage in the 62nd minute.

Samuel Chukwueze delivered a low pass into the box, which Raphael Onyedika controlled with a fine first touch before calmly placing the ball into the bottom left corner.

Onyedika struck again five minutes later to make it 3-0. He fired into the bottom right corner from about 15 yards after connecting with another Chukwueze cut-back following a quick attacking move that involved Onuachu.

Uganda, who were reduced to 10 men, scored a consolation goal in the 75th minute. Substitute Okello released Mato, who chipped the ball over goalkeeper Francis Uzoho.

Despite the late goal, Uganda could not mount a comeback.

The result means Nigeria finished top of Group C with a maximum of nine points, maintaining their unbeaten run at the tournament.

Uganda ended the group stage at the bottom of the group and were eliminated from the competition.
