Six countries have been knocked out of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco as the group stage enters its final round.
Botswana became the first team to be eliminated after losing their opening two matches of the competition. Their defeats meant they could no longer qualify for the knockout stage.
Equatorial Guinea and Gabon also crashed out of the tournament after suffering back-to-back losses in their first two group games.
Zambia’s AFCON campaign came to an end on Monday night following a 3–0 defeat to host nation Morocco. The loss confirmed their exit from the competition.
Comoros also bowed out after completing their group matches with a points total that placed them below four of the other five teams that finished third in their respective groups. They became the first third-placed side to be eliminated.
Meanwhile, six teams have already booked their places in the Round of 16. They are Algeria, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa and Egypt.
The remaining group matches will determine the final teams that will progress to the knockout stage of the tournament.
