Former Nigerian football star, Segun Odegbami, has confidently stated that Nigeria stands as the strongest contender at the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

In a recent interview on Nigeria Info’s program, Game On, Odegbami dismissed the traditional powerhouses like Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, and even champions Senegal, asserting they are not as formidable as the Super Eagles.

In his analysis, Odegbami pinpointed the potential threats to Nigeria, emphasizing, “The stronger teams are the North African teams, but they are coming to meet us in West Africa.”

The Super Eagles are placed in Group A alongside Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, and Equatorial Guinea for the tournament.

Speaking about the team’s prospects, Odegbami shared a gut feeling about Nigeria’s success, saying, “I’m going to AFCON fully loaded to join those that will come back with that trophy.” He expressed confidence in the team’s capabilities and dismissed Ghana and Cameroon as serious competition, noting, “Not Ghana, not Cameroon.”
