Afam Osigwe emerges as president-elect of Nigerian Bar Association

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Afam Osigwe, has been elected as the new president of the Nigerian Bar Association.

The announcement followed the 2024 NBA election, which was held online.

Osigwe, who previously served as the Secretary-General of the NBA, received the highest number of votes for the position of President. Voting commenced at 12am on Saturday and concluded at 1.59pm.

As of 2am on Sunday, Osigwe had secured 20,395 votes. His closest competitor, Tobenna Erojikwe, chairman of the NBA Institute of Continuing Legal Education Governing Council, received 10,970 votes. Chukwuka Ikwuazom (SAN), the former chairman of the NBA Lagos Branch, garnered 9,007 votes.

Osigwe will take over from the outgoing president, Yakubu Maikyau (SAN).
