The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company has announced that customers must complete the Token Identifier rollover process for their prepaid meters by July 31, 2024.

This update is essential to ensure that the meters can continue to accept new energy tokens and function correctly after this date.

The acting managing director/chief executive officer of AEDC, Victor Ojelabi, said that while the global deadline for the TID rollover is November 30, 2024, AEDC aims to have all its customers updated by the end of July.

“We have launched the Token Identifier Rollover to enhance the integrity and functionality of prepaid meters. This initiative is crucial for accurate billing and updating the meter software security,” Ojelabi stated.

Ojelabi also shared that AEDC is rolling out several strategic initiatives to improve its operations and customer service.

These include fighting energy theft through increased vigilance and night raids to detect illegal connections, clearing outstanding bills to optimize service delivery and ensure operational efficiency, distributing meters to unmetered customers as part of the federal government’s Mass Metering initiative, setting up vending platforms for easy token purchases through various channels, strengthening the customer experience department for timely responses to inquiries and complaints, and digitalizing internal processes, including implementing an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, to improve efficiency.

Ojelabi emphasized the importance of customer cooperation in settling outstanding bills to maintain uninterrupted service.

“We appeal to all our valued customers with outstanding bills to settle them promptly. This is crucial in maintaining uninterrupted service delivery and ensuring that we provide reliable electricity to every household and business in our service areas,” he said.

AEDC’s new leadership team, introduced by Ojelabi, is committed to driving the organization towards greater operational excellence and customer satisfaction. The team includes Engr. Okwuokenye Chijioke as Chief Operating Officer (COO), Babajide Ibironke as Chief Finance Officer (CFO), Godfrey Aba as Chief Technical Officer (CTO), Iguwo Ukwu as Company Secretary and Head Legal, Uche Anyalewechi as Chief Information Officer (CIO), Irene Nwankwo as Chief Internal Auditor, Engr.
