Nigerian singer and politician, Banky W, has disclosed that his wife, actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington, was the one who initiated the step that eventually led to their marriage.

The couple shared insights into their relationship during an interview with Teju Babyface, where they reflected on how their love story started and evolved over time.

Banky W recounted that although he initially expressed interest in Adesua, she placed him in the friend zone for an extended period.

He explained that he later stopped pursuing the relationship actively and turned to prayer, hoping her perspective would eventually change.

According to him, the turning point came after more than a year when Adesua reached out and referred to him as her husband, signalling a shift in their relationship.

“Adesua was actually the one who asked me to be her husband. She kept me in the friend zone for a long time, so I stopped pushing and simply prayed to God to touch her heart. After a year and a few months, she finally called me ‘my husband’, and that’s it”, he said.

Adesua also opened up about their marriage, noting that they have now spent a decade together and continue to maintain a close connection. She described how they express affection through simple gestures, including holding hands and staying physically close even while asleep.

She further revealed that she once had reservations about marrying individuals in certain professions, such as entertainers, pastors, and politicians. However, she said her husband embodies all three roles, which she believes aligns with God’s plan for her life.

“We’ve been married for 10 years and we still hold each others hands all the time, we sleep together with our feet’s touching each other. I didn’t want to marry an artiste, a pastor and a politician but God gave me all three”, she said.
