Osun State Governor and Accord Party candidate Ademola Adeleke has won his polling unit with 421 votes in Saturday’s governorship election. This result has sparked celebrations among his supporters in Ede.
According to Vanguard, the result was recorded at Ward 02, Polling Unit 009, Abogunde Compound, in Ede North Local Government Area. The governor had earlier cast his ballot at this location.
Supporters erupted in jubilation after the result was announced. They celebrated the governor’s strong showing as sorting and collation continued at the polling centre.
Adeleke polling unit result excites supporters
The victory came hours after Adeleke expressed confidence that voters would return him for another term as governor.
He is seeking re-election on the platform of the Accord Party. It is a closely watched contest featuring candidates from several political parties.
His major challenger, All Progressives Congress candidate Bola Oyebamiji, had also expressed confidence in victory after voting at Ward 09, Polling Unit 011, in Ikire. This is in Irewole Local Government Area.
Results from other polling units across Osun State are being collated as the governorship election progresses.
