Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, presented the proposed N273 billion budget for 2024 to the State House of Assembly.
The budget, titled “Budget of Recovery,” consists of N108,254,020,710.00 for capital expenditure and N165,654,976,700.00 for recurrent expenditure.
During the official presentation on Thursday, Governor Adeleke mentioned that the budget aims to rebuild the state, which faced challenges prior to his tenure.
Adeleke expressed his delight in presenting the draft budget to the House, as required by law.
He stated, “I am pleased to present to the honourable members of Osun State House of Assembly through the Honourable Speaker, the Draft 2024 Budget of Osun State.” He then went on to highlight the budget’s total amount, which is N273,908,997,410.00, consisting of N165,654,976,700.00 for recurrent expenditure and N108,254,020,710.00 for capital expenditure.
The governor explained that the budget’s tagline, “Budget of Reconstruction and Recovery,” reflects the government’s focus on rebuilding the state from its previous challenges.
He reassured the members of the Assembly that the executive arm of the government is committed to achieving the budgetary goals once the proposal is passed into law.
Adeleke emphasized the importance of collaboration between the executive and legislative branches for the development of the state.
He stated, “I am reassured of our collective partnership for a new Osun of our dream. You have in me a Governor with a firm belief in executive-legislative collaboration for development.”
