The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Campaign for the 2026 Osun governorship election, Hon. Oluwole Oke, has suggested that Governor Ademola Adeleke may not feature on the ballot, citing an ongoing leadership tussle within the Accord Party currently before the court.

Oke, who represents the Obokun/Ori-Ade Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, expressed optimism about the APC’s electoral prospects, projecting a landslide victory in 26 out of the 30 local government areas in Osun State.

He made these assertions while addressing journalists shortly after a meeting between the Ajisope Political Movement and members of the Fulani community, who were said to have declared support for the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).

He further claimed that opposition parties, particularly the Accord Party and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), would struggle to gain significant ground, predicting that both parties combined would secure no more than four local government areas.

Oke also dismissed the chances of Governor Adeleke in the race, arguing that the APC candidate holds a stronger political background and better qualifications.

“Adeleke and ADC candidate, Najeem Salam will win only 4 local government by splitting it among themselves. We are even going to compete with them very well in Ede North, South, Egbedore and Ejigbo. We are targeting electorate and not relying on anything outside this.

“Let me even say this, Adeleke might not be on the ballot because of the crisis within themselves, we have another candidate called Bamigbola in Accord Party, they are in court, so we don’t know who is competing with us.”

In a related development, the Coordinator of the Ajisope Political Movement, Chief Kabir Adeoye, stated that the group is intensifying grassroots mobilization efforts across Osun State to strengthen support for the APC, particularly ahead of the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu and the governorship ambition of Oyebamiji.

He added that the movement has already recorded defections from opposition ranks, noting that 1,200 members of the Accord Party in Orolu Local Government Area have joined the APC.

He said that “In Orolu local government area of Osun State, 1,200 members of Accord Party have defected to APC. We are sure that more of them will join us before 2026 and 2027 elections.”

Meanwhile, Fulani Community through its Youth Leader, Ahmod Abubarka endorsed Oyebamiji for guber seat, revealing that “We have over one million Fulani in Osun state and we are ready to cast our vote for APC guber candidate.”
