Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has expressed confidence that the ongoing governorship election in the state will be conducted peacefully, saying he expects to emerge victorious at the end of the exercise.
Adeleke spoke after casting his ballot at Sagba Agbogunde Ward 2, Unit 9, in Ede North Local Government Area of the state.
The governor arrived at the polling unit at about 8 am alongside a large crowd of supporters who accompanied him to the voting centre.
After voting, Adeleke said he was optimistic about his chances of winning the election, while calling on residents across the state to turn out in large numbers to exercise their civic rights and ensure their votes are protected until the conclusion of the electoral process.
He said the election offered the people of Osun an opportunity to decide who would lead the state for the next four years, urging voters to maintain peace and obey the law during voting, counting and collation.
“This election will be peaceful and I will win. I want you people of Osun State to remain at your polling units and monitor the process in accordance with the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC,” he said.
