Afrobeats singer Adekunle Gold has given N250,000 each to several Nigerians who graduated with first-class degrees from different universities.

The musician made the offer on X, asking graduates to post their transcripts. He wrote, “If you graduated with First class, post your transcripts.” Many students quickly shared their results, leading Adekunle Gold to pick and reward some of them with cash gifts.

However, he jokingly excluded graduates from Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, because of a bad experience he had performing at the school in 2015. “OAU students, don’t bother,” he posted with a photo of Rick Ross’s album titled God Forgives, I Don’t. He recalled how the students booed him, stormed his hotel, and took N150,000 from his performance fee that year.

The beneficiaries of his kindness have since shared screenshots of the credit alerts on social media while thanking him. One user, Abikelere, wrote, “Baba God has picked up my call ooo using you sir. No amount of thank you can express my gratitude to you oo. At last, I got an amount tagged to my HND after 12 years of graduation.”

Another, Hakeem_Onitolo, hailed the singer, saying, “Thank you very much AG. BIG FISH. Loke loke Egbón.”

Adekunle Gold is also known for his philanthropy through the Adekunle Gold Foundation, which helps sickle cell patients interested in music careers.
