ADC chieftain raises alarm over rising insecurity in Kwara

National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, Bolaji Abdullahi, has expressed deep concern over the growing insecurity in Kwara State, warning that rural livelihoods are under serious threat.

Abdullahi made the claim on Saturday during the commissioning of the new ADC Secretariat in Ilorin.

He said, “Our people can no longer farm safely. The government must do more to restore peace and ensure that the lives of citizens are protected.”

He noted that insecurity had crippled agricultural activities across communities, with farmers abandoning their lands due to fear of attacks. According to him, the failure to address these threats is worsening poverty and food scarcity in the region.

Shifting focus to the political landscape, Abdullahi criticised the current state of the opposition, declaring the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) “dead” and describing the ADC as the only viable alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“The question is no longer whether Kwarans want the APC; that question has been answered. They don’t. The question now is whether we can convince them that ADC is the only alternative and that’s exactly what we’ll do in the coming elections,” he stated.

Also speaking at the event, former Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed said the launch of the ADC office marked a turning point in the state’s political direction.

“This is the beginning of a new direction in our political experience. The ADC is poised to entrench a party that reflects the true aspirations of Kwarans,” Ahmed said.
