There is acute voter apathy in the ongoing supplementary governorship election in Adamawa state as most of the election officials were seen sitting idle waiting for voters.

WuzupNaija reports that voting commenced at 8:00am at Polling Unit (PU) 008 Mustapha Primary School, Bako Ward, Yola South.

The All Progressive Congress (APC), which had initially rejected INEC’s Thursday’s (today’s) date for the supplementary election, saying it will not participate in the polls made a u-turn.

Although in most of the polling units visited, agent of the APC were not seen at the polling booths.

Sources said the development is not unconnected with the decision of the incumbent governor and candidate of the APC, Jibrilla Bindow not to mobilize and bank roll the supplementary elections, as he concentrates his effort through the law courts to scuttle the March 9th gubernatorial elections.

The Adamawa State Chairman of the PDP, Tahir Shehu, had alleged that the party is aware of the governor’s desperation to cling on to power.

Shehu added that it will be in Bindow’s interest to congratulate the PDP’S candidate Ahmadu Fintiri, as the governor-elect since the election has been won and lost because “the supplementary elections is just a mere formality.”
