Adamawa man kills friend over motorcycle, N20,000 cash

A man named Yahaya Balarabe has been arrested in Adamawa State for allegedly killing his close friend and stealing his motorcycle and N20,000 cash.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, Balarabe, who is 25 years old, stabbed his friend, identified only as Usman, to death on July 17, 2024. Nguroje said, “The suspect murdered the deceased and robbed him of his motorcycle and N20,000.”

Nguroje explained that Balarabe, from Dage Village in Ganye Local Government Area, went with Usman to his farm under the pretense of helping him spray herbicides. “The suspect attacked and killed Usman by stabbing him with a cutlass in the head and then threw the body into a gutter,” Nguroje added.

Police arrested Balarabe after Usman’s family reported the crime. Officers found evidence at the scene linking Balarabe to the murder. Nguroje said, “Balarabe voluntarily confessed to the crime and admitted he was interested in Usman’s motorcycle and money.”

The Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, praised the Ganye Divisional Police headquarters for their swift action. “The Commissioner expressed concern over the incident and commended the police for preventing the suspect from escaping justice,” Nguroje stated.
