Nollywood actress, Judy Austin, has cautioned young women against rushing into marriage, urging them to ensure they are mentally and emotionally ready before taking such a significant step.
Sharing insights from her personal experiences, the actress spoke about the dangers of early marriage, including divorce and the struggles of raising children without adequate preparation.
In a video posted on her Instagram page, Austin advised women not to marry simply because of pregnancy, warning that such decisions often lead to regret.
She said women should take time to reflect and ask themselves if they can truly spend the rest of their lives with a partner before committing to marriage.
According to her, mental readiness is key to managing the challenges and responsibilities that come with married life.
Austin also encouraged personal development before marriage, advising women to date, learn about people, and place their trust in God and themselves.
She emphasised that focusing on self-reliance, work, and emotional stability would help women make wiser choices in relationships.
Reflecting on the negative outcomes of early marriages, Austin noted that many women end up divorced or find themselves struggling to care for children they were not prepared for.
She added that early marriages have brought pain to many women, forcing some to withdraw or abandon their responsibilities due to overwhelming pressures.
Judy Austin married actor Yul Edochie as his second wife in April 2022, and the couple has three children. She was previously married, but that marriage ended in 2013.
