Nollywood actress and event planner, Folorunsho Adeola, better known as Arike Gold, has revealed that the most challenging role she has ever played wasn’t on a movie set—but in her personal life.
In a heartfelt conversation with Saturday Beats, Arike Gold opened up about a difficult period in her life that tested her strength and shaped her into the person she is today.
“One of the most defining roles I’ve ever played wasn’t in front of a camera or on a stage. It was the role of a survivor. There was a season in my life when everything felt like it was falling apart. I felt like giving up, but something inside me refused to let go. Choosing to live, to keep pushing, to believe that tomorrow could be better changed me. It taught me resilience, gratitude, and how to find light even in darkness. It’s a role I never auditioned for, but one that gave me the kind of strength no script could ever teach,” she said.
Arike Gold also shared her thoughts on loyalty and the kind of friendships she now values, having outgrown relationships rooted in convenience.
“One major thing I’ve learnt about loyalty in friendships as I grew older is that loyalty isn’t just about who’s been around the longest; it’s about who’s genuine, consistent and present when it matters the most. I have outgrown friendships that were based on convenience, not true connection. Now, I value quality over quantity. I also believe in knowing your limit in friendship. Friendship is not supposed to be hard. Sometimes, we’re the ones looking for what is not lost. Know your place and your role; don’t force things. Having a plain heart and genuinely wishing your friends well helps friendships last longer,” she stated.
