Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Allwell Ademola, has been buried in Lagos.
The late actress was laid to rest on Friday at the Atan Cemetery in Yaba, Lagos, as family members, colleagues and friends gathered to bid her farewell.
Several Nollywood stars were present at the burial ground, including Toyin Abraham, Biola Adebayo, Rotimi Salami and Saidi Balogun, who came to pay their last respects.
The burial followed a series of funeral activities held on Thursday, which included a service of songs, candlelight procession and wrap prayer attended by many industry colleagues and well-wishers.
Allwell Ademola died on December 27, 2025, at the age of 49 after suffering a heart attack at her residence in Lagos. Her death came shortly after she shared a video on Instagram expressing hope and positivity for the new year.
Speaking on the loss, her brother, Adeboyega Adebayo, said he was still struggling to come to terms with her death.
“I have not fully digested the news of her death. I miss everything about her,” he said.
He described the late actress as fearless, confident and full of life.
“To grow up together with her, she was very adventurous. She was never bullied and never intimidated. Despite her size, she never had low self-esteem,” he said.
Adeboyega added that Allwell was physically strong and naturally gifted.
“She was bold and could speak to any crowd. She did not attend any speech school and did not learn it from anywhere. Acting came naturally to her,” he said.
He also noted that colleagues had encouraged the family not to mourn excessively, saying she had already touched many lives.
“People in the industry keep telling us not to cry because she has impacted so many people,” he added.
The family had earlier confirmed her death in a statement signed by Adeboyega Adebayo, putting an end to speculations surrounding the circumstances.
“With heavy hearts and total submission to the will of God, we announce the passing of our beloved sister, mother and aunt, Princess Allwell Ademola, who departed this world on Saturday, December 27, at the age of 49,” the statement said.
Allwell Ademola began her acting career in 1985 on the television programme Animal Games with Uncle Wole and later gained popularity through Tales by Moonlight.
She joined Nollywood in 1992, acting in both English and Yoruba films, and went on to work in theatre productions from 1993 at the National Theatre, Lagos.
Her death has continued to draw tributes from fans and colleagues across the Nigerian film industry.
