Acting President Osinbajo launches solar homes in remote area of Abuja (Photos)
Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, on Wednesday, launched the Presidential Initiative for Solar Homes in Wuna Village-Gwagwalada, Abuja.
This feat was made known in the pictures and post shared on the Facebook page of Professor Yemi Osinbajo few hours ago.
He explained that it is an initiative that supports the deployment of 20,000 small scale household solar systems to rural communities in Nigeria.
Osinbajo who expressed the believe that the initiative will address the immediate power requirements in the rural areas, also hinted that it can power four light bulbs, one radio and one torchlight. He further explained that it comes with USB port with charging cables for mobile phones as well.
It was reported that the pilot phase of the SHSP has been running in Wuna village, FCT, since December 2015, providing the off-grid village w/affordable electricity.
Meanwhile, the acting president also used the opportunity to visit LEA Primary School to speak with the pupils, after which he acknowledged that the visits were the highlights of his day.
