The Kano State Government has forwarded petitions and counter-petitions against Malam Shu’aibu Abubakar, popularly known as “Triumph,” to the Shura Committee for formal review and deliberation.

The petitions were transmitted on Friday by the Secretary to the State Government, initiating a process aimed at resolving the matter through Islamic legal and ethical principles.

In line with the committee’s procedures, both the petitioners and Malam Abubakar will be invited to appear before the panel.

Petitioners will be required to present and substantiate their allegations, while the respondent will be given the opportunity to defend himself before any conclusions are reached.

Briefing journalists after the committee’s sitting, Secretary of the Shura Committee, Shehu Wada Sagagi, emphasized the panel’s commitment to fairness and due process.

“After listening to both sides, the committee will deliberate and then advise the state government accordingly,” Sagagi stated.

He also acknowledged that some petitioners had indicated their intention to pursue legal action independently of the committee’s process.

However, he urged all parties to allow the Shura Committee to conclude its proceedings.

“We call on the people to maintain peace and harmony. Kano remains one of the most peaceful states in the Northwest, and it is our collective duty to preserve that peace for the economic and social progress of the state,” he said.

“This is a committee of well-versed scholars in Islamic jurisprudence. We will advise the government accordingly, in sha Allah,” he added.

The allegations against Malam Abubakar include making derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad (SAW), raising doubts about the circumstances of the Prophet’s birth, and claiming that his parents are in hellfire. Other complaints involve alleged irreverent comparisons and statements considered offensive by the petitioners.

The committee, comprising respected Islamic scholars, commended the state government for addressing the matter through religious and consultative mechanisms. They noted that resolving such sensitive issues within an Islamic framework is essential to preventing unrest and ensuring social stability.
