The Allied Conservative Congress has called for a Nigerian President of South-East extraction in 2027, saying it will help maintain the unity of the country.

Chairman of the ACC, Olusegun Peters, made this statement during the inauguration of the Abia State executives in Umuahia.

Peters, represented by ACC National Vice Chairman, Northwest, Ibrahim Abdullahi, highlighted that since the assassination of former Head of State Gen. Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi on July 29, 1966, an Igbo person has not become President.

“Since the return of democracy 25 years ago, no Igbo person has occupied the number one seat of the country, while the North and South West have each held the position twice,” Abdullahi said.

He added, “Our party stands for equity and will support the fair distribution of power among the three major tribes: Igbo, Hausa, and Yoruba.”

Abdullahi also expressed hope that the economic challenges facing Nigeria could be addressed by the skills of an Igbo leader.

During the inauguration, Peters urged unity and collaboration among the new Abia executives. “The party has the interest of all Nigerians, regardless of their religious, ethnic, or educational backgrounds,” he said.

National Vice Chairman for North-Central, Hon. Illya Juan, National Publicity Secretary Hon. Abubakar Sadiq, and National Vice Chairman for South-East, Vincent Eberechukwu, all congratulated the new executives. They expressed hope that the new leadership would lead the party to victory in the upcoming elections.

Acting State Chairman of ACC, Onyekachi Uwalaka, thanked the party for their trust and promised to focus on winning governorship and legislative seats in Abia for 2027.

The newly inaugurated executives include State Vice Chairman Dr. Jiwuba Peter, Party Secretary Dr. Innocent Ikoro, and other principal officers.
