Recording Academy has expressed disappointment that famed singer and songwriter, Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter would not perform at the 2021 Grammys.
The 63rd annual award ceremony would hold virtually on Sunday night, March 14th, in Los Angeles.

Surprisingly, Beyoncé who happens to be this year’s most-nominated artist at this year’s Grammy Awards decided against performing on stage.

Reacting to rumours of a surprise performance by the ‘Run The World’ singer, Recording Academy’s CEO Harvey Mason Jr quelled the report in an interview with LA Times.

“It’s unfortunate because she is such a big part of the Recording Academy,” he told The LA Times. “We absolutely wish we had on stage.”

Beyoncé leads this year’s nominations, with her song Black Parade up for both record of the year and song of the year, while Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift and Megan Thee Stallion also received nods.

“Brown Skin Girl” earned a nod for best music video, and Black Is King is a contender for best music film. – Billboard
