AC Milan beat Juve 3-0 as Champions League qualification race intensifies
AC Milan defeated Juventus 3-0 in Turin on Sunday night to move third on Serie A table as the battle for a spot in next season’s Champions League heats up.
With Juventus already dethroned by Inter Milan who were recently confirmed as new champions, Atalanta, Juve, Napoli and Milan were left to battle for three spots up for grabs for the champions league, meaning one of the four teams would miss out on the competition next season.
Milan made a bold statement to move third with the away win as the Rossoneri beat the Bianconeri away from home for the first time in a decade, despite entering the game fifth behind Juventus who had the goal difference advantage.
Real Madrid loanee, Brahim Díaz, gave the visitors the lead in the first half (45+1′) before Franck Kessie missed a golden opportunity to make it 2-0 with a missed penalty.
Milan, however, refused to be denied as Ante Rebić netted a stunning goal from outside the Juve box in the 78th minute leaving Wojciech Szczęsny without a chance.
Chelsea loanee, Fikayo Tomori, cemented Milan’s dominant performance with a powerful header in the 82nd minute to end the game 3-0 in favour of the visitors.
