The Federal Fire Service has successfully contained a fire outbreak at Leventis Plaza in Abuja, preventing its spread to adjoining commercial facilities and saving property valued at over N900 million.

In a statement on Sunday, the FFS National Public Relations Officer, DCF Paul Abraham, said the fire occurred in a tailoring workshop on the first floor of the plaza and was suspected to have been triggered by an electrical surge.

Following a distress call, firefighters from the FFS Special Unit at the National Headquarters were deployed. “The crew, led by SF Adoko, arrived at the scene within five minutes and commenced firefighting operations,” the statement read.

The swift response confined the blaze to the affected workshop, averting its spread to other parts of Leventis Plaza and nearby structures including Grand Square, The Palm Hotels, and Frazier’s Suites.

Firefighters carried out firefighting, salvage, and overhaul operations, followed by a detailed inspection to ensure the situation was fully under control.

The FFS estimated that property worth about N900 million was saved from an estimated total value of N1 billion before the incident, attributing the success to timely intervention.

The service urged the public to pay closer attention to electrical installations and safety standards to reduce such risks and reminded citizens of its emergency lines: 08032003557 and the national number 112.
